Go back to the enewsletter Viking Cruises this we

first_imgGo back to the e-newsletterViking Cruises this week declared that American chemist, emergency room physician and recently retired NASA astronaut Dr. Anna Fisher will be honoured as godmother to its fifth ocean ship, which will debut in July 2018. The new ship has been named Viking Orion after the constellation and in honour of Dr. Fisher’s contributions to NASA’s Orion exploration vehicle project. The announcement was first made by Viking chairman, Torstein Hagen, during a press conference in New York City celebrating the first call in Manhattan for the company’s third ship, Viking Sky.The 930-guest Viking Orion reached a construction milestone on 28 September, when the ship met water for the first time during her “float out” ceremony at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard. Dr. Fisher attended the ceremony and assisted with several maritime traditions. Viking Orion will spend her maiden year sailing itineraries in the Mediterranean, before making her way to Asia, Australia, New Zealand and then Alaska.“Vikings were the original long-distance explorers and the first to use the stars and constellations as a way to navigate uncharted territory,” said Torstein Hagen. “The spirit of exploration is at the heart of everything we do, and so I am especially proud that an astronaut will be honoured as godmother to our new ship. Dr. Fisher is a past Viking guest, a fellow scientist and a true explorer. As one of the first women in space, she has inspired generations of curious minds, and I look forward to welcoming guests onboard Viking Orion to learn more about her impressive career in space exploration.”Viking Orion’s float out began at approximately 11.00am local time, and in keeping with maritime tradition, Dr. Fisher assisted with the ceremony, first “mast stepping,” by welding coins under the ship mast. The commemorative coins she welded represented her birth year, as well as the birth year of Chairman Hagen. Two special coins were also welded to represent members of the Hagen family: 1911 to represent Ragnhild “Mamsen” Hagen, the mother of Chairman Hagen, and 2012 to represent Finse, the yellow Labrador of Karine Hagen, Viking’s senior vice president and daughter of Torstein Hagen. Dr. Fisher then cut a cord to allow water to begin flowing into the ship’s building dock. Following a two-day process that set Viking Orion afloat, the ship was then moved to a nearby outfitting dock for final construction and interior build-out.Go back to the e-newsletterlast_img read more

Michelle Viking is about to commence its maiden h

first_imgMichelle, Viking is about to commence its maiden homeporting season in Australia. You must be excited for the season ahead. Can you briefly tell us about the cruises that form part of this schedule and which ships we’ll be seeing in local waters this season? We are very lucky to be able to showcase our newest ship Viking Orion which will be arriving in Darwin next Tuesday on her way from Bali to Sydney on our 15-day Komodo & the Australian Coast itinerary. She will then spend three months travelling from Sydney to Auckland on our 15-day Australia & New Zealand itinerary. We will also be welcoming back Viking Sun, who will return to local waters in March on her second world cruise which will head to the ports of Geelong, Adelaide, Albany and Perth for the first time.Viking Sun made its first-ever appearance in Australia earlier this year in February. What was the trade’s reaction to the product? The two words most often used by agents to describe their reactions to Viking Sun after this year’s inspections were “blown away”. We are lucky to have a unique product in the market, which I think surprised people when they got on board. For this coming season, is there any availability or are the ships filled to capacity? Our maiden homeporting has just a handful of cabins left. We are now on sale for 2019/2020 and 2020/2021.Are the majority of passengers booked on Viking’s local cruises from Australia and NZ? What other overseas markets will be sailing on these voyages, and have you been surprised by some of the foreign markets?A majority of guests on our local cruises are from the US and the UK, where Australia and New Zealand are both such bucket-list destinations. However, we do have a number of local guests wanting to explore their own backyard with Viking, with the beauty of just a short flight. What does having Viking’s ocean ships here mean to the local office? It is such a fantastic marketing opportunity for us and we hope to take over 3,000 agents on board over the coming months. We are really proud of our ships and there really is no better way to share them with our trade partners than through firsthand experience. Will there be opportunities for travel agents to step aboard the ships to see it firsthand this time around? And will that opportunity be available in ports outside of Sydney? There will indeed. The response we have received already for ship inspections has been phenomenal. We are confirming all ports pre-Christmas this week but we are still taking requests for our port visits in 2019. Agents can find out more and register their interest at www.surveymonkey.com/r/ShipInspectionsWe have new ports this time around: Townsville, Newcastle and Hobart. Viking Sun visiting in March will give us the new ports of Geelong, Adelaide, Albany and Fremantle. What has the Australian consumer reaction been to the product?Overwhelmingly positive! We receive a lot of comments around the beautiful Scandinavian design and serenity of our ships, which makes for a very relaxing cruise experience. We consistently receive wonderful reviews of our crew, which is well deserved. And guests are loving the all-inclusiveness; it’s really is hard to spend money on our ships. What can we expect to see from Viking’s deployment at the end of 2019/early 2020? Will the program differ greatly?Due to the popularity of this region Viking Orion will begin her season down here a month earlier in 2020/2021.Which Viking ocean cruises have been the most popular for Aussies? And Viking recently added some new combination ocean and river cruises sailings. Have Aussies jumped at that program?Scandinavia continues to be very popular for us, with guests wanting to explore this part of the world with a company whose heritage lies in this region. Our North Pacific Passage itinerary from Tokyo to Vancouver has also been one of our bestsellers, I would say largely due to the hot destinations it visits: Japan, Russia and Canada. The combination cruises sold out quickly this year, so we are pleased to release new dates for our 15-day Rhine & Viking Shores & Fjords river/ocean itinerary in 2020.Viking Ocean Cruises is relatively young. Is the brand already seeing repeat clients? Are past passengers of Viking River Cruises in Europe jumping at the opportunity to step aboard the ocean ships?Yes, we are seeing a large number of repeat guests including past river cruisers, which makes sense seeing as our ocean cruise experience was modelled off that of our award-winning Longships. And finally, LATTE’s signature question, where is your local coffee shop and what’s your go-to beverage?Make mine a skim latte from Paramount Coffee Project, please.Go back to the enewsletter Go back to the enewsletterIn this week’s interview, LATTE chats exclusively with Michelle Black, Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand at Viking Cruises.Michelle has been at Viking Cruises for close to two years as the cruise company’s local head, overseeing a period of rapid growth including the expansion of its young ocean cruising division, and the recent relocation of Viking’s Australasian headquarters in North Sydney to larger premises in Surry Hills, Sydney.Prior to joining Viking, Michelle was the General Manager of Sales and Marketing at Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, a position she held for five and a half years, and which saw her immersed in the river cruise and touring market. Her professional career prior to entering the travel industry included more than seven years with French multinational company, Veolia, working in its transport division where she was General Manager Marketing and Communications for the Melbourne rail network.last_img read more

That question is really telling, he says, because his true fans know where to find him.“That question tells me you don’t really follow me on Instagram and you’re not really in tune with where R&B is today,” McKnight said. “If you’re listening to where they play music today, you’d know I have a Top 10 single on that chart. If you’re an avid concertgoer, you’d know I do 150 shows every year. I’m here. You just have to know where to look.”During a recent tour stop in New Orleans, the 17-time Grammy nominated artist sat down with The Associated Press to discuss his latest project, “Bedtime Story,” which dropped last month, and his thoughts about music today.“It’s 60 minutes of love-making music,” the crooner said, with a smile, about the new release. “I don’t know what anybody else’s situation is, you might just need 7 minutes or 12 minutes or 20 minutes, but I’m giving you 60 so that you can just press play and let it flow, let it happen.”McKnight, now 50, has been serenading fans for nearly 30 years and in that time, he said he’s been asked over and over to make an entire record dedicated to love — and all that that entails.“We’ll see if those people, who think they’re genius and know what I should be doing, know what they’re talking about,” he said laughing. “It’s been fun and a challenge to make because all the songs are about the same tempo, and how do you make a whole record this way and not repeat the same idea without being redundant?”“Bedtime Story,” featuring the hit single “When I’m Gone,” follows his 2017 release “Genesis,” which had three Top 15 singles, including “I Want You.”“I feel very fortunate after all this time that there are people in this world who still want to pay to hear me sing songs that I’ve created, some more than 20 years ago,” McKnight said. “My joy comes from seeing their faces when I sing a song or I’m about to play a song I wrote and they recognize it.”That was evidenced during his June 4 show at New Orleans’ legendary music hall Tipitina’s, where he closed out an appearance broadcast live on Sirius XM’s “Heart and Soul” channel that included sets by singers V. Bozeman, Raheem DeVaughn and Avant.McKnight went through songs like “Never Felt This Way,” ”Crazy Love,” ”Back at One,” and “Anytime,” bringing familiar screams from the women in the audience.“When someone is paying to see me, I want them to think when they leave that they didn’t pay enough,” he said. “I want them to leave knowing I played everything they wanted to hear, that I sang as well or better than they thought I would, that I was funnier than they thought I would be and that they leave saying ‘When he comes back, I’m definitely coming back to see him again.’”Anita Brown, a fan from New Orleans, said there’s no doubt about that.Brown said his performance was “brilliant” and she’d definitely “invest in a ticket or two” if he returns to the Big Easy.“He was amazing,” she said. “His voice was on point and, oh my God, he’s looks better now than he did back then!”McKnight’s career began at 19 when he signed his first recording deal with Mercury Records subsidiary, Wing Records. His self-titled debut album dropped in 1992 and featured the Top 20 hit “One Last Cry.” In 1999, he released his most successful album to date, “Back At One,” which went on to sell over 3 million copies.McKnight, who also plays eight instruments, shared his thoughts on the music genre that is R&B.“I’m not sure what I do or have ever done has been R&B,” McKnight said. “When I think of rhythm and blues music, I’m thinking of the Temptations or James Brown, and I’ve never created music that looks like that. I think we as a people get caught up in labels and have to name something, something. And, if the artist is black and they’re singing, it’s R&B.“But what we should do, is say ‘This is this music, I don’t know what it’s called, and let’s see if we can listen to it without having to make a label for it.’”In regards to current music popular to young audiences, McKnight says he’s glad young people have found a voice.“It’s really just these kids expressing themselves through the lives they’re leading with the tech that’s been given to them. As parents, we may not understand the music they’re creating or like it or dislike it, whatever the case may be, but this is the way they’re expressing themselves,” he said. “I love that they’ve found a way to be creative and found a way for their voice to be heard and a way to make it so mainstream. I would say to the old heads out there, ‘Let these kids be kids. It’s their time now.’”Chevel Johnson, The Associated Presslast_img read more

Remand for suspected coop embezzlers

first_imgTwo people were remanded on Thursday in relation to laundering close to €10 million through an Ayia Napa co-operative.The former secretary of the co-op, aged 56 from Ayia Napa, was remanded for eight days, while a 65-year-old businessman from Liopetri was remanded for five days.According to police, they have issued an arrest warrant for a third person, which the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) said is a British national that left Cyprus a long time ago.A complaint filed to the police alleges that between 2003 – 2012, accounts at the co-op would be over-drafted and loans were offered to both people and legal entities without adhering to internal rules and violating the Cooperative Societies Law.According to CNA, police managed to secure a witness statement against the 56-year-old former secretary and are now investigating allegations which include conspiring to commit fraud and secure credit under false pretenses, forgery, using fake accounts aimed to money launder, stealing from company officials or directors between 2004 – 2012 in Larnaca and Famagusta. These began to come to light after audit checks carried out by the cooperative development supervision service and the Central Co-operative Bank for the years 2011 – 2013.The total amount of loans, with interest amounts to €9.8m.Reports suggest property was overvalued and loans were given out without sufficient documentation. According to Cybc, loans were even approved for people that were underaged or even dead. While investigating the case, police secured a witness against the 65-year-old businessman linking him to the case. I’m who I am because I want to be this way. When you judge others for wearing makeup, dying their hair, altering parts of their body or inner self, JUST BECAUSE YOU DON’T, makes you just as toxic as a lot of societal norms and pressures we are constantly faced with.”“Pluck that shit,” said one of the commenters, while another likened the model to a homeless person. Not all are negative: “I really love your look. So unique, don’t change a thing.”“Celebrate nature in all its forms fight the unrealistic beauty standards of today,” added another. In an interview with Harpers Bazaar, Hadjipanteli said she was not out to show people they had to like her unibrow and get them on a bandwagon. She just wanted them to see they can get on with their lives by having a preference. The 21-year-old said she got her eyebrows from her mum who frequently emphasised the importance of taking care of them since she was little. She said she tried tinting her blonde eyebrows after seeing a Youtube video but she messed up and made the black. Her brother said it suited her and now she maintains them that way in addition to a coat of castor oil every night before bed.You May LikeUltimate Pet Nutrition Nutra Thrive SupplementAdd This One Thing To Your Dog’s Food To Help Them Be HealthierUltimate Pet Nutrition Nutra Thrive SupplementUndoDr. Marty ProPower Plus Supplement3 Dangerous Foods People Feed Their Dogs (Without Realizing It)Dr. Marty ProPower Plus SupplementUndoGundry MDHow To Make Your Dark Spots Fade (Effortless 2 Minute Routine)Gundry MDUndo Concern over falling tourism numbersUndoTurkish Cypriot actions in Varosha ‘a clear violation’ of UN resolutions, Nicosia saysUndoOur View: Argaka mukhtar should not act as if he owns the beachUndoby Taboolaby Taboolalast_img read more

Akel congress backs Malas Kyprianou says Anastasiades must go

first_imgAkel general secretary Andros Kyprianou on Sunday accused President Nicos Anastasiades of playing games with the hope of the Cypriot people for a solution and reunification, and also slammed the government’s economic policies.Speaking before the party’s Pancyprian Congress, Kyprianou said “the days of the Anastasiades-Disy government would go down in history as the era of unprecedented incidents of corruption, nepotism and arrogance”.The conference was called to rubber-stamp the Akel central committee’s proposal to support Stavros Malas’ candidacy in the presidential elections next year. He was given the party member’s backing in a vote around lunchtime that saw 955 out of 963 members vote in his favour.Kyprianou Malas’ candidacy would represent “true change” while Anastasiades was putting his personal ambitions above the next generations and the interests of Cyprus.“Mr Anastasiades is unprepared to take honest and clear initiatives to resume negotiations and prevent new developments undertaken by the Turkish side, but instead sets conditions that will not convince the UN to take a new initiative,” said Kyprianou. On the economy, he said one-third of the population was virtually below the defined poverty line, adding that Eurostat had noted that Cyprus was last in the EU when it came to social protection spending and is ” a champion of the gap between the few privileged and all the rest”, he added. The current government had to go “before the country sinks even more deeply into the stagnation, unreliability, injustice and inequality”.He added that those who must replace them must be young, incorruptible, honest, competent and innovative, “and they can not be the ones who will come with Nicolas Papadopoulos nor those who accompany George Lillikas”, he said.Referring to Malas, he said: “This time we can and must defeat the populism and demagoguery of those who think they own the place. We can and must defeat the establishment, the old and the rotten, the arrogance and the conceit of those who think they can almost buy the elections,” he added.Stavros Malas was a winning choice because he has a strong and competent team that could take Cyprus forward and inspired confidence, Kyprianou said.“Malas unites, does not divide. There is no demagoguery and he knows what he wants.”You May LikePopularEverythingColorado Mom Adopted Two Children, Months Later She Learned Who They Really ArePopularEverythingUndoUltimate Pet Nutrition Nutra Thrive SupplementAdd This One Thing To Your Dog’s Food To Help Them Be HealthierUltimate Pet Nutrition Nutra Thrive SupplementUndoGundry MDHow To Make Your Dark Spots Fade (Effortless 2 Minute Routine)Gundry MDUndo Concern over falling tourism numbersUndoTurkish Cypriot actions in Varosha ‘a clear violation’ of UN resolutions, Nicosia saysUndoOur View: Argaka mukhtar should not act as if he owns the beachUndoby Taboolaby Taboolalast_img read more

PaphosPolis road not financially viable auditor says

first_imgThe proposed road from Paphos to Polis, in its current form, is a financially unviable project and a waste of taxpayer money, Auditor-general Odysseas Michaelides said, rejecting suggestions that the matter was not within his remit.“Our service reiterates the position that construction of the project in question, in its current form, constitutes squandering of public money, on the basis of a decision that clashes with the acceptable and legally prescribed review and selection procedures,” Michaelides said in a statement issued on Thursday. It followed the cabinet’s rejection of the audit service’s view that the proposed Paphos to Polis road was a waste of money in the current form.“That is our view, which we have every right to express since auditing public spending falls under the hardest core of our constitutionally guaranteed powers,” the auditor said.“We also express regret about the fact that, as we have been informed by the finance minister yesterday, during its September 13, 2017, session the cabinet judged our reports to be beyond our remit.”It was noteworthy, according to the auditor, that during times when there was no legal framework guiding the selection and advancement of investment projects, the audit service was recommending reducing the cost within logical levels – 2005 to 2012 — without any suggestion from the government that it was not within its remit. In his report, the auditor said the reason the project was not sustainable was the decision to effectively construct a motorway when it was not justified by the traffic data. The annual average daily traffic in 2014 was 6,801 vehicles per day, with August of the same year recording the highest. On August 15, a national holiday, 10,944 vehicles used the road, the report said. Ten days later officials counted 830 vehicles at 6pm, the highest hourly traffic. The average during the month was around 9,000 vehicles per day.The current plan is for a two-lane road, which however, will have the geometrical characteristics of a motorway. The public works department’s standards for a two-lane road provides for an average 13,000 vehicles per day whereas the respective standard for motorways is 41,000, the auditor said.“This is part of a bigger plan providing that in the future, (not specified when) the complete project will be constructed at a cost of €260m (current prices) that will include a four-lane motorway,” the report said.Taxpayers were currently looking at a cost of between €68m and €81.5m, depending on which version the state would go with. The audit service had pointed out to the finance minister that building a two-lane road with the geometric characteristics of a motorway meant using parameters fit for the latter. That, in turn, meant a higher cost of construction, especially in higher areas as was the case, and made the road less safe because it would encourage motorists to drive at higher speeds.“Based on all the above, we expressed the view that the minister, exercising the powers granted to him by the framework law and acting in a lawful manner as he ought to, should reject the project without delay and ask the public works department to review the issue so that the project becomes financially viable.”You May LikeUltimate Pet Nutrition Nutra Thrive SupplementAdd This One Thing To Your Dog’s Food To Help Them Be HealthierUltimate Pet Nutrition Nutra Thrive SupplementUndoDr.

Two South African politicians speak about the peace experience in their country

first_imgIn complications, lie solutions, said two South African politicians who discussed recently during their visit on the island lessons learnt from the reconciliation process in South Africa and how these can be helpful in the case of Cyprus.Former Minister of Defence and Constitutional Issues Roelf Meyer and former MP and candidate for the African National Congress presidency, Mathews Phosa, visited Cyprus last week at the invitation of ruling Disy to participate in a series of events on ‘Conflict solution procedures and best practices’.  During their stay they were received by President Nicos Anastasiades and House Speaker Demetris Syllouris.Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency, Meyer firstly emphasised that there are many differences between the situation in Cyprus and South Africa, noting that ‘no two conflicts are the same. Each one is unique’.“We are very cautious not to create the impression that we think that South Africa’s experience can be repeated in Cyprus. Definitely not. What we are saying is that there are certain basic principles that if followed, then the chances are better to find a settlement’, he said. The first point he made was that there must be an inclusive approach. In South Africa, he said, they succeeded in creating space for everybody to participate in the negotiations and contribute towards the solution. The second one is that ‘we succeeded in building trust across the divide. We come from opposing sides in the South African conflict’ he said referring to his colleague, ‘and we were like enemies when we started. There was a complete distrust across the divide and through the negotiations we succeeded in building trust in each other to the extent that that trust helped us to overcome the differences and find a solution. And the proof of that is that we are here together as friends and brothers in peace. And that is a very important message from the South African story’.The last point he made is that they took ownership of their problem, its resolution and their own destiny.‘We took responsibility ourselves. We did not leave it to others. We were not trying to find mediators or facilitators to come from outside. We were directly negotiating with each other. When we had breakdowns we had to look each other in the eyes and say, so, what now? We did not depend on outsiders. Of course, we were fortunate to have leaders like Mandela and de Klerk. But we do not overemphasize that because other situations may not be that fortunate’, he pointed out.Referring to Cyprus, he said that he has visited the island on many occasions in the past, and pointed out that ‘I think there has been a lot of progress in the past two years in particular and we have to applaud the leaders on both sides for the progress made’.‘There is obviously a stalemate at the moment, an impasse, and that has to be addressed’ he continued, saying that they had experienced many stalemates in their experience but they focused on their vision for the future.‘The key is that those in negotiations should sit down and ask themselves the question what is it that we want from the future, instead of what is it that we want to protect from the past and if there are obstacles now, how do we remove those obstacles and be specific in addressing them and I think the answer will come’ he concluded.Mathews Phosa stressed the need for a sincere dialogue in order to overcome problems.‘You have to talk to each other, openly, honestly and understand the other person’s fears and concerns’ he said, noting that big compromises must be made and one must be ready for a ‘give and take’.Phosa also said that certain sunset clauses may be necessary, ‘certain arrangements which may not be permanent but at the beginning are necessary to build confidence. So those things need to be looked at’.He emphasized the need to have a feeling of security and to have a strong judiciary. On the situation in Cyprus, he said that it has its own complications, pointing out that ‘in those complications, lie solutions’.‘Leaders must see solutions in the complications. Like I say, be prepared to give and take. There is a lot of pain around here I think which is historical. But people who want peace live beyond pain, they live beyond the past, they assume a moral high ground and move on. For the young generation there is no interest to stick to the past. They want to move on. And the people of Cyprus must move on’ he concluded. The Republic of Cyprus, a full EU member state, has been divided by Turkish troops since 1974. UN led peace talks have yet to yield any concrete result leading to a political settlement. You May LikeLuxury Crossover SUV I Search AdsThese SUVs Are The Cream Of The Crop. Cyprus chosen to help mould ideal EU citizens using social media points

first_imgCYPRUS has been chosen by Brussels for a new pilot programme to roll out a China-style Social Credit System that will publicly rate citizens on their behaviours using social media, data-collection techniques and new AI technologies. And you don’t even have to be an internet user to become part of the programme.  “Citizens’ behaviour can be monitored through the use of their ID cards when it comes to buying goods and services, plus most use credit cards as well so it will be fairly easy to compile a profile of someone, even if they’re in the older generations,” said an EU official speaking on condition of anonymity.“Cyprus is the ideal place for a pilot programme. We really need to churn out better EU citizens. Though we’ve made a lot of progress lately through curbing hate speech and stigmatising people who use it, we need to do more.”The EU official said that in the corridors of Brussels there’s a running joke that the methods being used to produce the ‘ideal EU citizen’ are akin to those used by Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels who said the most brilliant propagandist technique would yield no success unless one fundamental principle was borne in mind constantly “it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.”“We’ve found that this works like a charm,” said the official. “The words racist, sexist, misogynist, homophobe and transphobe are the answer to almost everything people say that are the opposite of being a good citizen, or if they say anything we don’t like. It’s just ironic that we are using Nazi tactics to root out and silence the Nazis amongst us.”Under the Chinese plan, everything a person says and does will be ranked positive or negative and distilled into a single number that will determine social status, or to use the Chinese description “a trustworthy citizen”. The number can then be adjusted up or down depending on good or bad behaviours. The move has shades of the TV show Black Mirror where in one episode everyone was ranked this way. Low rankings meant trouble finding a place to live in ‘nice’ neighbourhoods, buying or renting a good car, or even finding a date.  High rankers on the other hand led a privileged existence unless they lost points being rude to the barista for instance. Really low rankers were societal outcasts with no rights or privileges.Canada has also recently taken steps towards the Chinese system, starting with health issues and rewarding people with points for buying fruit instead of junk food. The mobile app is called Carrot Rewards and is designed to link up with wearable devices in later stages to track and reward healthy behaviour. In Cyprus the pilot scheme will be introduced as part of the e-government plan and run under EU supervision during the pilot programme. It has both detractors and enthusiasts.Privacy advocate Aseme Isicho told the Cyprus Mail: “If you look at what Canada is doing, it’s just the Chinese system by stealth. They always start with health because it’s the easiest way to guilt trip people but it won’t end there.”Isicho said if such systems were confined to points for positive behaviours it could be beneficial but not in the sense that a person is publicly ranked and shamed in the same way they were put in the stocks in the Middle Ages. “This is what’s already happening on social media,” he said. “Using the ‘carrot’ approach is one thing but when you introduce the stick…  punishments such as deducting points for so-called bad behaviour, that’s when it becomes Orwellian.”He said what was scarier was people willingly giving up their privacy in return for popularity. “The new generations have been born in captivity so they don’t know any better. They’re not losing their privacy because they’ve never had it. You may say you have nothing to hide but that’s not the point. Why should some stranger know what you had for lunch or what you bought off Amazon? It’s my choice who I tell what I had for lunch, and that’s being taken away.”But interior ministry official Christos Ilithios thinks the development is not only beneficial but great for Cyprus’ image as a friendly tourist destination among other things.“Look, everyone already knows everyone else here. This is just making it official. Also Cypriots are very status conscious so they are expected to embrace the system wholesale,” he said. “We already have the highest Facebook usage so gathering the data will be easy. It will keep bad drivers in line and cut down on road deaths for starters,” Ilithios added. “Best of all, the purveyors of fake news will fall to the bottom of the social ladder.” You May Likewww.quickbooksupport.netQuickBooks Error Support lets you Solve QuickBooks Error: -6129, 0www.quickbooksupport.netUndoTymOut8 Signs Your Cholesterol Levels Are Too High!TymOutUndowww.tungstenfashions.comGold Handsome Tungsten Rings – $49.99 – Free Shippingwww.tungstenfashions.comUndo Two of serial killer’s victims buried in PhilippinesUndoLimassol police investigating attempted murderUndoThe Deniz boat incident showed clearly the intentions of the Turkish sideUndoby Taboolaby Taboolalast_img read more
