Tecmo Koei burns and ships wrong version of a Sangokushi RPG for

first_imgSomeone at Tecmo Koei has made a huge mistake when planning production of and shipping the tactical RPG Sangokushi VIII on PSP.Known as the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series in the West, Sangokushi VIII was re-released as a budget game for PSP today in Japan. Gamers picking up the UMD copy booted up the disc to find an unwelcome surprise. The sticker on the UMD and box may read Sangokushi VIII, but the game that shipped was Sangokushi VII, the previous title in the series.Tecmo Koei have acted quickly and pulled all copies of the game from sale. Needless to say, the discs will have to be scrapped, but any gamer who managed to secure a copy would do well to hold on to it. It’s sure to be a rarity as most people will have returned the game and demanded their money back.An official apology has been posted on the GameCity portal along with an offer to replace the game as soon as they have sorted out the problem. Obviously they need to go through the process of figuring out what went wrong and changing production over to copy the right game to UMDs.At a cost of $22 the game wasn’t expensive to buy, but it’s going to cost Tecmo Koei quite a bit of money to handle the recall and make a whole new batch of the game discs. At least the cases, sleeve, and UMD stickers are all correct and don’t need any changes making.via Andriasang and GameCity (translated). Screenshots courtesy of IGN.last_img
